You are migrating servers, virtual machines or an entire virtualisation from another provider or your own server room to ENTRONYX CLOUD. This page describes the process in six steps, who takes over what in each step and what costs arise. Deadlines and the amount for the execution are defined in the quote, as both depend on the inventory.

Six steps, three roles
The process is the same for servers, cloud and Private Cloud. What differs depending on the existing setup — deadlines, transfer method and the fee for execution —, is stated in the quote and not on this page.

Inventory
What needs to migrate and under what conditions is recorded: virtual machines and servers with cores, memory and used storage, the data volume and how fast it changes, dependencies between systems and to the outside, the permitted maintenance window.

Target architecture
The inventory list becomes a configuration: line, size, location, network and backup. It is created in the appropriate configurator, and the selection is in the address bar — a link that you pass on to us and your partner.

Test environment
The target environment is booked before production data is moved, and billed according to the model of its product line: cloud instances hourly at the monthly price divided by 730 and capped at the monthly price, dedicated servers and Private Cloud hosts monthly.

Transfer
The data migrates via the route agreed in the quote. Which route fits depends on the data volume, change rate and maintenance window of the inventory — this page does not define it in advance.

Parallel operations and acceptance
Source and target run side by side until the target meets the agreed acceptance criteria. The switchover takes place in the maintenance window, usually via DNS; the source remains available as a fallback until acceptance.

With us, a migration costs money in three areas: the target environment from its provisioning, traffic above the inclusive volume, and the execution work. The first two follow fixed rules, the third is in the quote.

The costs of your previous contract during parallel operations are not included. All amounts net, plus 19% VAT.
For the execution amount, sales needs the key data from the inventory. Send them with the request, or request a callback.
Questions asked before migrating
Five questions that come up before every order. What depends on the existing setup is answered in the quote.
Do I need to cancel with my current provider before the migration begins?
No, and we advise against it. Only cancel after acceptance (step 5): until then, the source is your fallback.
The notice period and data return of your previous contract depend on its terms. Set the end of the contract so that it falls after the planned acceptance — both contracts run during parallel operations.
Who bears the costs of data transfer?
Incoming traffic is not charged by us and does not count towards the included volume. What your previous provider charges for outgoing traffic is stated in their contract.
Traffic leaving the target environment — such as a reverse sync during parallel operations — is included up to the included volume and costs €1.09$1.26 per TB; on dedicated servers it is unlimited above that. Traffic model

Can I test the target environment first?
Yes. The test environment is a regular booking of the target line and is billed according to its model. Cloud instances run hourly, at the monthly price divided by 730 and capped at the monthly price; NX2 thus costs €0.0082$0.0095 per hour. Billing ends upon deletion. Dedicated servers and Private Cloud hosts are billed monthly.
Provisioning of a cloud instance: on average 35 seconds, guaranteed under 60 seconds. Dedicated server: typically 90 minutes for in-stock items, up to 24 hours when built to order. For a Private Cloud, the quote specifies the timeframe.
What happens to my IP addresses?
Addresses from your previous provider's address space belong to them and do not migrate. The target environment receives its own addresses; the switch is usually done via DNS, in the maintenance window before acceptance.
Therefore, check during the inventory where your previous addresses are hardcoded: in allowlists with partners and service providers, in firewall rules, in licence bindings.

How long do both environments run in parallel?
Until acceptance is declared and the fallback is no longer needed. The duration is specified in the quote because it depends on data volume, change rate and your maintenance window.
During this time, the target environment runs according to its billing model from its provisioning, the source according to your previous contract.
