Virtual servers

14 plans on 3 platforms: Intel/AMD x86, AMD EPYC and Ampere Altra. All with local NVMe, at least 20 TB traffic and full root access. Provisioning on average 35 seconds, guaranteed under 60 seconds.

No setup fee, no minimum term, cancel monthly. Billing is per second at the hourly rate, capped at the monthly price — a test run over a weekend does not cost a full month.

VPS, cloud instance or dedicated server — the difference in three sentences

A VPS is an isolated part of a large machine that you operate alone — you share the machine itself with other tenants. A cloud instance is the same isolated part, but with dedicated computing power that no one else can touch. A dedicated server is the entire machine, from €65.54$76.03 per month instead of from €5.99$6.95.

Host, guest and what a vCPU is

Virtualisation means: a software divides a physical computer into several isolated computers. The physical computer is the host. Every isolated computer on it is a guest.

Your VPS is such a guest. It has its own operating system, its own users, its own firewall and its own IP addresses. You see nothing of the neighbour on the same host — and they see nothing of you.

What is listed as a vCPU in the plans is a virtual processor core: a computing thread of the host that its scheduler assigns to your guest. On all three series — NX, NP and NA — there are more vCPUs on a host than it has physical threads. This is called overbooking, and it works because hardly any instance computes around the clock.

When you notice that you are sharing

As long as the neighbours compute little, you get more computing time than the plan guarantees. Only the base share per vCPU is guaranteed: 25% on NX, 40% on NP. It only takes effect when your burst credit is used up — the computing time your instance saves up during quiet phases. So it does not take effect at all during load peaks lasting seconds, but immediately during hours of full load.

You can read this from a number that every Linux outputs: the steal time in top. It states the proportion of time in which your guest wanted to compute and the host made it wait. If it is permanently more than 10%, the wrong series was chosen — not the plan too small. We do not state our own average here: it would not be verifiable without a measurement period and the number of observed instances. You can read this number yourself in your own instance within seconds.

Opened node vertically from above: two processor sockets under identical cooling towers, all memory banks populated, behind them a row of fans behind a black air duct.
Opened 2U server chassis from diagonally above on the workbench: heatsink with copper base over the socket, populated and locked memory banks, fan wall, power supplies with IEC connector at the back, drive bays at the front.

Images, setup time and snapshots

An image is the fully prepared operating system that is written to the instance at the first start. There are 10 images available for virtual servers, 9 of them at no extra charge. Provisioning until the first login via SSH takes on average 35 seconds, guaranteed under 60 seconds; a reinstallation runs via the same route and can be triggered as often as you like.

Three platforms, one billing logic

The series determines the platform and how CPU time is allocated. NX and NA double vCPU, memory and storage with each step; NP additionally introduces an entry level with one core and an intermediate step with twelve.

NX — Intel/AMD x86, shared cores

The most affordable entry point. Cores are shared according to a fair-use quota, with a base share of 25% per vCPU. For development and test environments, small websites and services that wait long and compute briefly.

ARM is not the budget option here, but the faster tier

Ampere Altra brings physical ARM cores without SMT to the platform — meaning without splitting a core into two threads. The price advantage comes from the efficiency per watt: the NA series is the most affordable instance class per request in the catalogue.

An Ampere core performs less per clock cycle than an EPYC core, but consumes a fraction of the energy and scales linearly across the core count. For services that process many small, similar requests — HTTP frontends, reverse proxies, container fleets, message consumers — this is exactly the right curve. For a single long calculation step, it is the wrong one.

The crucial point is in the comparison table: NA3 has the same key specs as NX3— 4 vCPU, 8 GB RAM, 80 GB NVMe — but computes on physical cores without SMT instead of threads, for €10.99$12.75 instead of €8.99$10.43 per month.

The licence for Windows Server 2025 Standard costs €28.00$32.48 per month and instance, regardless of the core count. It covers the operating system — not the access licences for Remote Desktop Services, SQL Server or Exchange. If you need more than two simultaneous RDP sessions for administration, you will also need RDS CALs, which we provide on request.

When a VPS is the wrong choice

  • Continuous load over 70 per cent

On NX and NP, the base share applies once the burst credit is used up. What you then see as a “slow night” is the scheduler. Choose ND or NA.

  • Compliance with physical separation

If an audit requires that no third-party load is on the same hardware, virtualisation won't help. That is a Bare Metal case.

  • More than 64 GB RAM or 32 cores

The largest VPS ends at 32 GB. Above that begins the range of the ND, NM and NS families or a dedicated server.

  • Your own virtualisation

Nested VMs are not permitted on VPS. If you want to run Proxmox, ESXi or Firecracker with KVM, you need a physical server.

  • Predictable storage latency

Local NVMe is fast, but shares the controller with neighbours on the same host. For databases with a strict p99 target, NS or Bare Metal is the more honest choice.

  • GPU acceleration

VPS plans have no graphics card and no passthrough. Inference and training run on the NG series.

When a VPS is exactly right

  • Websites, shops and APIs with a daily rhythm instead of continuous load
  • Development, test and preview environments that disappear again in the evening
  • Reverse proxies, VPN endpoints, DNS resolvers, mail relays
  • Container fleets that grow horizontally instead of vertically — that is where NA shows its cost curve
  • Anything for which a dedicated server with 64 cores would be idle ninety percent of the time

The transition is reversible

A snapshot can be restored to any larger plan within the same architecture, even across series — from NX to NP, from NP to ND. Only switching between x86 and ARM requires a reinstallation, because the binary world is different. Plan a maintenance window for this, not a rollback.
